For the second consecutive year, the Department of Philosophy of the University of Crete and the cultural organization HE.art (HERAKLION art) are organizing CINEphil_101 International Philosophy Film Festival, in collaboration with the Heraklion Cultural Conference Center and with the co-organization of the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion.

The festival brings philosophy into the public sphere through the critical lens of contemporary independent cinema, creating a vibrant hub of art and ideas in Heraklion.

The festival program includes:

• Competition Section: International feature-length fiction film productions.
• Short films.
• Animation films in collaboration with the ANIMASYROS International Festival.
• Special screenings & meetings:  ✦Philosophers meet Film  ✦Filmmakers meet the Public, with the participation of renowned philosophers and directors.
• Secondary school competition “Young CINE-Philosophers.” Screening of selected student films.
• Educational workshops.
• Parallel activities & open events.

From May 3 to May 10, 2026, Heraklion Cultural Conference Center becomes a meeting point for philosophy and cinema!
