SYNOPSIS

How did women of a not-so-distant generation experience love—both its romantic and its physical dimension? Through the narratives, silences, gazes, and gestures of its protagonists, the film explores some of the elements that made up the world of our grandmothers.

Screening of the documentary Love in My Grandmother’s Time (2024) by Zoe Stavridi-Michalopoulou, in collaboration with the WIFT GR (Women in Film and Television) network and with the support of the Office for Gender Equality of the Region of Crete.

Winner of the 1st Prize at the 9th WIFT GR Festival50/50 Equality in Cinema, the film humorously and tenderly depicts the lives of elderly women who grew up in Greece during the last century. It highlights their fragile social position and the partial ways in which they achieved empowerment. The women share candid reflections on love, passion, and relationships, exploring both the romantic and physical dimensions of affection in their generation.

The screening, along with an introduction to WIFT, will be presented by Eleftheria Komi, actress, choreographer, and member of WIFT GR.
