SYNOPSIS
At Dimitris’s middle school, Vasilis and his group—a gang of bullies—terrorize him. When he learns that he has to say the morning prayer, Vasilis takes over all his thoughts. But what will happen when the day comes for him to stand in front of the entire school, and especially in front of him? In their search for identity, through violence, one will push the other to his limits.

In collaboration with ΕΚΚΟΜΕD, Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (HFAC).

Screening of the short film Greek School Prayer (2014) by Thanasis Neofotistos.

The film Prayer centers on two middle school students who, in their search for identity, test each other’s boundaries. The film, which has been awarded the Golden Dionysus at the Drama International Short Film Festival, highlights issues of gender identity within the school environment.

The CINEMATHERAPY by EKKOMED program leverages the power of cinema as a tool for psychosocial empowerment. Applying the methodology of cinematherapy, the initiative invites students to explore, through their own personal experiences, issues of personal identity, the need for belonging, the experience of loneliness, as well as the power of expression within a collective context.

The program will be led by psychotherapist Denise Nikolakou, collaborator of the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center and head of the CINEMATHERAPY program.

The activity is aimed at middle school students.
